Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19)

March 6, 2020 admin

By the time of writing this blog, Nepal has Zero recorded patients of Coronavirus. But the effect is just not medical and physical; the effect of Corona is very much visible in Nepal.

Masked-mandu

Corona is a virus. Air is the fastest medium for virus to transfer from one body to another body. It’s a precaution to put on the mask all the time. The city looks black, blue and white this time. Its good! It makes us feel safe! But is it though?  The quality of the masks?  Price of the masks? Things are really unhealthy in Kathmandu. The price hiked from 5rs a piece of mask to 30rs. Irony, Shortage of mask in Kathmandu. Where are all the masks gone? The black market is rising very high. 90% of the masks has been sold to black market creating overwhelming shortage of Masks in City, more like all over in Nepal. If you are really thinking of coming to Nepal at this hour, make sure you DON’T HAVE THE VIRUS and make sure YOU COME WITH YOUR OWN MASKS. But you are welcome anyways.

Do Not VISITNEPAL 2020

If you really thought of traveling to Nepal because of the campaign VISITNEPAL2020, just be sure that the Government of Nepal postponed the campaign for the year.  Due to the corona-outbreak, this year is more like Do Not Visit Nepal 2020. Nepal has restricted on-arrival visa for 5 different countries. The government has also suspended Sagarmatha Dialogue schedule for next months. During the Visit Nepal Year, Nepal’s biggest hope for meeting the target of foreign tourists’ inflow was on arrivals from India and China, the two largest source markets for Nepal’s tourism.

In 2019, Nepal had attracted 254,150 Indian tourists and 169,543 Chinese tourists, according to the immigration office. However, after the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus, most of the flights between China and Nepal has been suspended which will affect the inflow of Chinese tourists this year.

Price Hikes

Everything seems pricey these days in Kathmandu. Esp., the flight rates. Making this is just not the right time to travel. Travel not just in Nepal but anywhere in the world. The rates are going one-way up and it’s not coming down anytime soon. The tourism sector comes to standstill as quarantine fear looms in Kathmandu too.  By the time of writing this blog, All the Quarantined patients showed negative result on the test.  But still, the price hiked in all the parts. From transportation to medical treatment everything seems pricey and costly.
