Trekking occupies the topmost spot among the several adventure activities, which Nepal: the land of majestic Himalayas extends in front of numerous travel enthusiasts who wish to explore its picturesque landscapes.  Nepal is celebrated around the globe for delightful and accessible trekking via its rugged trail that provides a window of opportunity to witness the country’s diversity of nature and ethnic culture. Admired by the visitors, trekking trails in Everest, Langtang, and Annapurna are few of the many in Nepal which promise everlasting and genuine exposure to inimitable natural beauty embracing turquoise lakes, cascading waterfalls, ferocious rivers, snow-capped mountaintops, thriving flora and fauna and many more. In addition, trekkers tend to observe Gompas, monasteries and temples with the experience of warm-hospitality bestowed by the natives.

Trekking in Nepal can be classified into two basic natures i.e. Tea House Trek and Camping Trek. Trekkers can hand-pick from a wide range of lodges aka teahouse situated in celebrated trekking areas primarily Everest, Annapurna and Langtang. With the increase in the elevation and isolation of trekking regions, tea houses transform into a luxury. Sometimes, these places are positioned at a faraway distance due to which, trekkers have no options left, other than camping together with your trekking companion. Currently, with the advancement in the tourism sector of Nepal, both teahouse trek and camping trek render revitalizing experience.

Tea House Trek:

When it comes to trekking in Nepal, the word ‘Teahouse’ represent lodge. Nepal’s mountainous trekking regions consist of a great many tiny human settlements that render accommodation facilities via tea houses/lodge. Generally, these places are equipped with rooms containing two cosy bed and washrooms featuring showers.  Few of the teahouses come up with a vast menu comprising several food items; however, some provide elementary Nepali and Tibetan repast. Trekkers usually stay where breakfast and dinner are usually eaten within the lodge whereas; lunch is consumed during the trek.

The diversity in the quality, service and standard of the teahouse is influenced by its location. Teahouses at higher elevations tend to see less number of trekkers each day; thus, offer elementary facilities.  Accommodations in these teahouses come in different forms ranging from one with rustic settings to those, identical to city hotels. Teahouse trek can be performed along with a guide and porter or individual trekkers can trek independently. A foremost method to link with the native communities and other trekkers from around the globe; teahouse trek is a fascinating experience of the lifetime.

Camping or organized Trek:

Treks highlighting this nature of trekking are completely systematic where trekkers are accompanied and aided with the well-equipped team of leaders, guides, cooks, porters, and Sherpas. This classical nature of trekking is a bit expensive and demands a massive planning in-comparison to Teahouse Trek but it grants access to almost everywhere even into remote areas of the country i.e. authorized by the Government for trekking expeditions.

During the trek of this nature, trekkers stay overnight inside large and comfortable domed tents with a fly having fairly thick foam mattresses on thinner insulation liners. All the essential gears and equipment: fuel, food and other commodities are transported by porters whereas the cook makes all the meals throughout the trek. Trekkers are required to be seated on stools and table in order to take their meals. All the technical and logistical aspects during camping treks are overlooked by the team of professional individuals; all you need is trek…trek…and trek….with a break!!!
