Makalu Circuit Trekking, well known for the challenging three passes of Sherpani Col (6416m), West Col (6143m) and Amphu Laptsha (5845m), is a classic trekking trail in the Makalu region. Suitable for adventurers seeking challenges, this trek traverses into the vicinity of World’s fifth highest mountain Mt. Makalu (8463m) as well as the Everest Base Camp and the courtyard of the mightiest Mount Everest (8848m). Makalu Circuit Trekking provides the opportunity to the trekkers to explore through the Makalu Barun National Park and Sagarmatha National Park which hosts diverse varieties of orchid, Primroses, rhododendron, along with the wildlife such as red panda, musk deer, Ghoral, Himalayan Tahr, Leopard and different species of birds. Spectacular scenery, panoramic view of majestic Himalayas including the eight thousanders like Cho Oyu (8153m), Lhotse (8501m), Makalu (8463m) and Everest (8848m), rich cultural heritages of Rai, Sherpa and Bhotia fcommunity, diverse landscape and solitude are the highlights of Makalu Circuit Trekking besides the adventurous journey.

Makalu Circuit Trekking is a well acclimatized trekking expedition that starts from the hill town of Tumlingtar, after a cultural tour of the vibrant Kathmandu Valley. Beginning with the sub-tropical climatic condition in the floor of the Arun Valley, we navigate gradually up through areas of cultural trek that includes the settlements of Chichila and Mudhe before ascending to Seduwa, Tashigaun and to Khongma Danda. The trail gets steeper as we ascend further to Mumbuk and Nehe Kharka through the Sipton pass and Kalo Pokhari. We descend to Yangri Kharka after acclimatization in Nehe Kharka and ascend to Merek, further that we traverse on the trail surrounded by glaciers before reaching to the awaited Makalu Base Camp. Past the camp, we push ourselves in the Makalu Circuit Trekking as we pass through the French camp and East Col. Then we cross the Sherpani Col before proceeding to Baruntse Base Camp. The next day we cross West Col and the most difficult Amphu Laptsha pass (that skirts around Ama Dablam Peak) as we enter into the Imja Valley of the Everest region. Through the Lobuche we adore the vastness and beauty-par-excellence of the panoramic Himalayas from the Kalapatthar after crossing through Lobuche to Everest Base Camp and Gorakshep. After Kalapatthar, we trek down to Lukla via Namche Bazaar and Pheriche as we complete our strenuous and challenging Makalu Circuit Trekking and fly back to Kathmandu.

Largely challenging yet pristine and equally rewarding, in Makalu Circuit Trekking, trekkers wander through sparsely populated trail, foot of glaciers and peaks. This trekking requires previous trekking experience and good amount of physical robustness. March-May and Sept-Nov are the preferred season for trekking in this trail which is basically a camping trek. Join hands with Luxury Holiday Trek for creating lifetime memory in this less explored trail with the reliable services of experts and meticulous planning.
