Day 01: Arrival at TIA Kathmandu (1350m) & Transfer to the Hotel.
The marvelous yet less taken and strenuous trekking in the eastern region starts with your arrival to Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA). After you complete the formalities in immigration in the airport, you will be greeted by the representative who shall be representing us. You will then be transferred to the hotel of your stay in a private vehicle. The hotel of your stay shall be a standard tourist hotel with enough facilities that shall make you comfortable. Get your jetlagged body to rest and enjoy the authentic Nepalese cuisine and excellent hospitality of hotel staffs. Get refreshed from the tiredness as the exciting tour begins the following day. Day 02: Kathmandu City tour
This is the day dedicated to the guided city tour of Kathmandu valley. The tour explores the ancient heritages of this medieval capital city and the cultural capital of this diverse nation, Kathmandu. In list are the sites listed in UNESCO world heritage site list. The ancient and holy Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the most sacred Hindu pilgrimage in Nepal and one of the holiest in the whole world is one of the highlights of today’s tour. The other attractions include the Buddhist pilgrimages of Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas of its kind in the world and the Swayambhunath Stupa, the 14th century stupa which is also popular as the Monkey Temple among the foreign tourists. The other marvelous and lauded heritage of architectural excellence is the Patan Durbar Square which has ancient and well preserved royal palace, courtyard, temples and other heritages with ornate carvings on them. After exploring the richness of the valley we shall also have interaction with the trekking guide regarding the trekking expedition. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 03: Kathmandu to Biratnagar by flight and drive to Taplejung. 1442m (7/8 hrs)
Today we shall head for the beginning point of the trek, the hill town of Taplejung. The day starts with the flight to the second largest and the industrial city of Nepal, Biratnagar. This flight of around 45 minutes takes the flyers starting over the lush hills and valleys of the hills along with the view of mountains and to the wide plains of the southern Nepal, also known as the food basket of the country. After this flight and some break we head on an overland trip to Taplejung. Slowly and steadily the drives goes along the east-west highway and then on the road leading towards the hills. With weather changing fromm steamy heat to cool bridge, the landscape from vast plains to hills and terraced fields, we reach to the beautiful and small city perched on the eastern hills, the destination of Taplejung. Day 04: Trek from Taplejung to Chhirwa. 1185m (4/5 hrs)
This is the start of our adventurous trekking in the exciting eastern remote land of Nepal. The trail joins the section of the trek along the torrential Tamor River near the settlement of Dobhan passing through the smaller settlements of Bojhe and Mahadevtar. We navigate through the fertile lands, beautiful valleys and pastures and several settlements as we have a gradual ascent uphill in the trail. Passing through the fortnight marketplace, dynamic terrains, lush hills, and several suspension bridges we reach the settlement of Panisar. We cross the river of Hangdewa and head further on a steep trail for couple of hours before we descent to the settlement of Mitlung through a muddy trail. With the ups and downs further ahead in the trail, we pass through the settlements of Sinwa after a descent and another ascent takes us to Tawa, the suspension bridge at Thiwa and some beautiful landscape before we reach to the destination of today, the Limbu village of Chhirwa. Overnight in Chhirwa.
Day 05: Trek from Chhirwa to Sekathum. 1650m (5/6 hrs)
The trek along the Tamor River continues today as well. We shall initially pass through the dense forests, the cardamom fields and lush green fields in a trail with ups and downs as we explore the settlements of Taplethok, Tamewa,Margen and several other smaller hamlets before branch off towards the settlement of Hellok crossing a suspension bridge. Further along the trail we cross the Ghunsa river and reach to the settlement of Sekathum after the uphill and downhill trek in the trail. We are gradually moving to the higher altitude and today we shall be prepared for the difficult trek the following day. Overnight in Sekathum.
Day 06: Trek from Sekathum to Gyabla. 2725m (6/7 hrs)
A long and challenging trekking day is in store for the trekkers for this section of the trek. We trek along the Ghunsa River today as well. Trekking through the dense forests of rhododendron, bamboo and fir besides the other vegetations we have strenuous walk in the ridges in a winding trail. An uphill climb and descent through some bridges and past the waterfalls, hills and rough trail and occasional views of wildlife, we reach to the Tibetan settlement of Gyabla. Overnight in Gyabla.
Day 07: Trek from Gyabla to Ghunsa. 3415m (6/7 hrs)
The start of this section of the trail has crossing over the river and navigating through lush vegetations and forests. Further ahead in the trail we descent down the river and have a uphill climb to the refugee settlement of Phale. In this settlement trekkers have the opportunity of shopping for some souvenirs in the form of handicrafts and other items made by the Tibetan refugees. Up ahead through the juniper larch, conifer and pine forests, several prayer wheels and Mani stones we reach to the Sherpa village of Ghunsa. Ghunsa is infamous for the tragic helicopter crash of several prominent conservationists. Overnight in Ghunsa.
Day 08: Rest Day (Visit Ghunsa village and monastery)
This day is scheduled for the acclimatization as we shall be moving to the altitude higher than 4000m, the following day and onwards for some days. In today’s rest, we shall explore the beautiful village of Ghunsa and the ancient monastery in the village. This village is famous for hydroelectricity plant, the marvelous green and lush landscape surrounding the village, the dense forests and rich Sherpa culture. A short hike to the Lapsan La monastery in the surrounding area of the village is an enriching experience for the trekkers. Exploring the beautiful surrounding and having enough activity in the rest day, we return to the teahouse for overnight stay. Overnight in Ghunsa.
Day 09: Trek from Ghunsa to Selele. 4200m (6/7 hrs)
The destination for today is the Sele Le which shall serve as the foothill for the ascent to the bit challenging Miring La pass. The trek shall start with the descent to the Yamtari River after which the trail passes through dense forests and in the ridges with ups and downs along the trail, most of the sections has climb for the trekkers. With no teahouses en route, trekkers shall have camping in this section has to camp for their accommodation. A gradual and strenuous walk in the hills accompanied by the high hills overlooking the trekking trail and through dense forest of moss, juniper and rhododendron, we shall reach to the destination for today, the Sele Le. Overnight in Selele.
Day 10: Trek from Selele to Tseram (3868m) via Miring La (4650m)
This is another rather challenging section of the trek wherein trekkers today shall cross the challenging Miring La Pass (4650m), Sinion La Pass and Sinelapche Bhanjyang and trek in the ups and downs of the ridge. With the view of Himalayas such as the majestic Makalu Peak and Jannu Himal, we have a steep descent after crossing the Sinelapche pass and trek past the Chhuchung Pokhari before we reach the destination of Tseram and spend night there. Overnight in Tseram.
Day 11: Trek from Tseram to Ramche. 4610m (5/6 hrs)
This trek moves to the further higher altitude in the trail before we shall trek to the lower altitude sections of the trail. The trek of today shall start with the gradual ascent to the Yalung Bara, further ahead of which the trekkers have view of Kabru and Rothang peaks. Further uphill ascent along the trail shall take the trekkers along the Sibuwa River crossing which the periphery of Yalugn Glacier begins. We trek through the settlement of Lapsang on a rocky terrain and reach to the destination of Ramche past the trail that leads to the alternative route to the Sherpa settlement of Dhunche. We shall explore the surrounding of the glittering glacier with turquoise blue water and marvelous landscape where grey and rocky terrain contrasts the glacier water. Overnight in Ramche.
Day 12: Trek from Ramche to Trongten. 2980m (5/6 hrs)
After we explore the surrounding of the pristine glacier, the ancient Oktang monastery and marveling the view of Kanchenjunga’s southern face we trek down to the settlement at the lower altitude of Trongten. We take the trail which led us to the beautiful spot of Ramche and gradually move down along the Simbuwa River and through the settlements of Tseram, Lapsang, Yalung Bara and others besides the rhododendron forest, lush hills and waterfalls, vegetations and views of valleys and settlements we reach to the destination of Trongten. The descent requires comparatively lesser time than the uphill ascent, though we trek down gradually without much strain on knees and ankles. Overnight in Trongten.
Day 13: Trek from Trongten to Sherpa Gaun. 1792m (6/7 hrs)
A relatively longer trekking section as compared to the previous section of the trek, we shall now get further into the hills of the region. The trekking trail in this section shall initially trek down and then have a uphill ascent to the Lasiya Bhanjyang (3310m) and then have a steep descent to the village of Chittre and then to the summer grassland. We take one of the two trail to reach our destination, one of the trail passes through the settlement of Yamphudin and the other trail passes through Dhupi Bhanjyang and crossing over Amji River and on the ridge. After couple of hours’ trekking we reach to the settlement of Sherpa Gaun which means the ‘village of Sherpa’ in local language. Overnight in Sherpa Gaun.
Day 14: Trek from Sherpa Gaun to Phumpe Danda. 1860m (5/6 hrs)
Today’s trail shall follow the Kabeli River and then moves further away from the trail ahead of the small hamlet of Huptar. The trail then crosses the Rate River and then proceeds further after crossing the Ghatichhinne Bhanjyang. Ahead in the trail trekkers cross the Otham Khola, a small river, and then take a right turn towards the destination of Phumpe Danda. Intermittently in the trail we traverse past the several settlements, temples and related religious heritages, lush hills and valleys and interaction with the locals inhabiting along the settlements of the trail. Overnight in Phumpe Danda.
Day 15: Trek from Phumpe Danda to Kadebhanjyang. 2190m (6/7 hrs)
In a log trekking section, we shall explore the settlements of hills that includes the Phungphung Danda and Kheswa as well as other smaller settlements along the culture, tradition that are predominantly of Hindu religion. Trekking in the secondary trekking route along the region, we have views of several smaller rivulets, waterfalls and other minor trails used by the trekkers. The view of high and lush hills, dense forests and the occasional glimpses of wildlife found in the region makes the trek an enriched and entertaining one. After a gradual, slower and bit longer trek, we reach to the settlement of Kadebhanjyang. Overnight in Kadebhanjyang.
Day 16: Trek from Kadebhanjyang to Lali Kharka. 2266m (5/6 hrs)
The destination of today is the settlement of Lali Kharka which joins the trail from the famous and sacred temple of Pathibhara Devi. The trail begins with the descent after trekking out of the Kadebhajyang until the settlement of Simbu, of course the trail has bit of ups and downs though the overall trek is a descent. The trail then has a gradual gaining of altitude in a winding trail which passes through the settlement of Hoktake and exploring the lush and green trail we wander along the serpentine trail to reach the settlement of Lali Kharka. Overnight in Lali Kharka.
Day 17: Trek from Lali Kharka to Suketar.2400m (5/6 hrs)
We have this section as the last trekking section with physical walk in the ridges of hills through severall smaller villages. The trail as rich pastures and cultivations, wonderful settlements, unique lifestyles of the locals along the trail in a path that explores the beautiful landscape with ample of greenery. Besides the natural and scenic diversity of the landscape of the trail, we also can encounter the typical hilly lifestyle, the locals with unique culture and way of living. After navigating through the mid hills of the eastern Nepal, we finally reach the destination of Suketar, wherein we shall take our flight to Kathmandu maeking the official end of our stay in the trekking route of the extraordinarily beautiful and adventurous Kanchenjunga region in the eastern Nepal.
Day 18: Suketar to Kathmandu by flight and back to hotel in Kathmandu
After the strenuous yet beautiful and adventurous trek in the eastern Nepal we now head for the capital city of Kathmandu. The flight is basically on a twin otter aircraft and over the Mahabharat and Chure range of hills, beautiful valleys, settlements on the hills and valleys, the occasional view of humongous, glittering and panoramic mountain peaks. After this scenic flight we get rest in the hotel of our stay. In the afternoon you have this part of the day all to yourself. Explore the immediate surroundings of the hotel of your stay as the exploration of the beautiful valley remains dedicated for the following day. Enjoy the proper and tasty cuisine of your taste in the hotel after days of local cuisines in the trekking field. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 19: Kathmandu Shopping and Rest
This is another scheduled rest day in the itinerary for the trekkers. After a long and strenuous trekking this is a relaxing day for you. Go for the sightseeing of the Kathmandu city where religions coexist in peaceful harmony, the modern and traditional values live shoulder by shoulder and diverse communities practice their values, culture and tradition without hampering the other community. Also go for some souvenir shopping and carry a memory with you in the form of artifacts and other items of your interest. Get ready for the flight to the respective onward destination. Enjoy the authentic Nepalese cuisines and the farewell cultural performance presented to you in the hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 20: Final Departure
This is the official end to this trekking adventure in the less explored and off-the-beaten trekking trail in the eastern Nepal. After packing your luggage for the onward destination, our representative shall transfer to the Tribhuwan International Airport at least 3 hours prior to the departure time of your flight. We hope that this trek in the relatively quaint trekking trail created a lot of lifetime memories. The trek is sure to leave impression that lasts for the lifetime in your memory.
